Locating Street Lighting
6 steps · ~15 min · Street lighting, LV mains and services
Why we start here
Street lighting does not come first because lighting matters most. It comes first because it is the fastest way in.
Picture an ordinary street: an LV main running down it, three house services coming off, and lighting cables. All of it has to be found. You could hook the Genny onto each property in turn and apply a signal down to each one — and that could take you twenty minutes.
Then you connect to the lighting column, and if it is a tee'd off system the signal runs the main, comes back up, and picks up the house services as well. You have just spent twenty minutes getting what one connection would have given you.
It is a habit worth building: work a methodical process, and start at the column.
