Every Subject, in the Order a Job Runs

31 subjects in six groups: plan it, check the kit, apply a signal, find it, dig it, learn from it. Everything in the Bureau is filed against at least one.

01

Before you dig

What has to happen before anyone opens the ground.

02

The kit

The Genny and the CAT themselves — what they do, and what they cannot do.

03

Applying a signal

The Genny half — the core of the Sygma method.

04

Finding services

The CAT half — locating, pinpointing, and knowing what the reading means.

05

Safe digging

Getting it out of the ground once you know where it is.

06

When it goes wrong

Investigation, coaching and the behaviours behind a strike.

What You Are Working On

Subjects say what a thing is about. Services say what you are working on — which is how a crew thinks about the day’s job. They are kept apart because street lighting is not a technique, but a street lighting video is about direct connection. Forced into one list you would have to choose, and you would lose half your results.
